Fitness First are currently recruiting x1 Legal Counsel member to join our experienced General Counsel team.

The legal team plays a key role across Fitness First, particularly in the franchise and property law space and to a lesser extent consumer law.

Reporting to a highly regarded and influential General Counsel, this role is based in Bondi Junction and is offering $80,000 + super and a Fitness First platinum membership for you and a plus 1.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Liaising with Landlords regarding company leases and advising the business on the terms of leases.
  • Preparing, issuing and advising on sub-tenancy agreements.
  • Assisting in the negotiation and execution of commercial contracts.
  • Dealing with personal injury and negligence claims, working with insurers and external legal firms regarding claims.
  • Providing general legal advice to Fitness First staff members.
  • Advising on the terms and conditions of Membership Contracts.
  • Working on franchising matters and dealing with franchise disputes.
  • Compiling information and conducting legal research as requested by the General Counsel.
  • Managing intellectual property portfolio including dealing with trade mark registration and renewal.
  • Instructing external legal firms on debt collection matters.
  • Ad Hoc presentations to new staff members on their legal requirements.

 As the successful candidate you will have:

  • A Law degree and hold a practising certificate as well as a minimum 1 years’ experience within a small practice generalist position.
  • Experience in franchise, general / contractual and property law as well as commercial leases will be held in high regard.  
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, and the ability to build relationships within a diverse business.
  • Strong stakeholder management experience.
